VOCAL HARMONIES WORKSHOP
Do you fancy yourself a good singer but find harmonies to be a challenge?

In this 2-hour class you will learn how to:

• Hear the different harmony parts in songs
• Stick to the harmony part you are singing
• Harmonize above and below the main vocal line
• Create/write harmony parts for your own songs
• Develop techniques for practicing harmonies Limited to 6 people.

NO MUSICAL THEORY KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED,but you do need to be able to carry a tune. All musical genres are welcome.

ZEN OF MUSIC WORKSHOP

Based on the teachings of Philip Toshio Sudo and his book Zen Guitar, this three-part Saturday workshop will show you how to approach music in a different, more spiritually aware fashion. These three 3-hour classes are:

Part 1: The Beginner’s Mind
As a person goes through his/her musical ventures he must rid himself of anything he thinks he knows and approach old concepts with a sense of newness, always replenishing his understandings with new information.

Part 2: The Twelve Points of Focus

Human beings are creatures of habit, it is best to establish the proper approach right away and the Twelve Points of Focus are areas where a student must concentrate his/her early training.

Part 3: The Twelve Common Missteps
Endeavoring to know the way of Zen Music requires moment-to-moment vigilance. If left unchecked, these deviations, such as selfishness, egoism and laziness can, over time, lead to a wide divergence from the path. These tests of patience and mental fortitude will follow you every day of your life and you will learn to be at peace with it.
