OpenVoice Studios offers several opportunities each year for our students to perform at music venues in the local community.
We have two types of shows, so whether you’re a first-time performer or an advanced student looking to tighten up your set, we’ll help you take that next step.
Local Emerging Singer Showcase
This semi-annual show is a great way for students to try out singing in public for the first time, gain more live-performance experience, practice performance skills, conquer stage fright, build their repertoire and their resume in a warm, safe and encouraging atmosphere. There are 10-12 performance slots and all levels are welcome.
A Night of Singers!
These shows are tailored to the more advanced student. We book a well-known local music venue and 4 performers get a half-hour set each. This is a great stepping stone for a student looking to become a performing musician. This show is a chance to build up your chops, as well as gain important skills such as self-promotion, song selection, song arrangement, and finding accompaniment.
We work hard to prepare our students fully for all of their performances, whether they perform in our shows or elsewhere. Throughout their course of voice lessons, in addition to voice technique, students work on creating an emotional and engaging performance, building improvisation skills, microphone control, song analysis and memorization, and, of course, conquering stage fright.
We encourage and help our students to network with each other, other local professional and amateur musicians, and music venues. We also encourage our students to get out and perform for fun – no matter what level they’re at. Our community is very important to us, so you’ll often find us joining our students at area open mics, throwing singing parties at the studio, and even organizing group trips to karaoke night!
